After looking at too many FBMLE pictures, I thought I might consider stripping my older FFBM. I wouldn't want to spend too long doing it though, since it was just a whimsical idea.
So, how would the finish under the coating typically look like on your basic FFBM? I mean, could I expect to see something competition grade rough with deep scratches, tool marks and dimples that would take a looong time to satin by hand? Or would it be more along the lines of "sort of doublecut" under there? Looking closely, I can see a few INFI dimples here and there on the blade even through the coating, so I guess it might not be all that smooth under there.
The dimples are kind of fun though, the tool marks and scratches more bother me. Any wise advice, Hogs?
