I'm in the middle of doing my first stripping job on a bk11... Used the klean Strip gel and paint started to bubble up at about the 20 min mark...i was able to get 99% of the coating off of the blade but I can't seem to get anything off of the handle...the handle has been reapplied now for about 30 mins and nothing looks different. No bubble or flake off...am I doing something wrong? Or am I just being impatient? Thanks all...

sometimes there are stubborn spots. U may have to rinse it off and wirebrush or sand the remainder off. I had a few spots like that on my 2...and on the other hand my 16 just stripped 100% in 7 minutes in same stripper.

You're going to have to fight Sam Hell over the turf of biggest in-post sig pic.

Put stripper on and then put in a sandwich bag and let sit awhile. It holds in the fumes. It might help.

After using the same brand but the spray can on my BK9 I learned that they can sit for a couple hours to let it really work. But with my BK11 I stripped it 3 times and the handle was still hardly stripped. I ended up having to sand the hell out of it and for the insides of the holes on the handle I used a small sanding wheel on my dremel. I'm a some what newbie at mods but the BK11 was my 3rd project so I'm kinda getting the hang of it and I will definitely be buying the liquid/gel next time cuz the spray tends to slide off the knife no matter what position you set it in. Oh and the stripper won't work if its cold in the area you're leaving the knife sit. Though I doubt its real cold in Al:) So you should probably prepare for some good old fashion hand sanding. I personally started with 180 grit then on to 330 and finished it up with the 1000 for a nice shine. Here's some pics of mine, nothing special but I like it.

Stripping advice? First I'd pick a song that's easy to dance to. Then pick- Oh, THAT stripping. :D

When I did my BK2 and BK14 there were spots where the coating was still stuck on. Just wipe what you can off and then use a metal scraper. You could probably use sandpaper too.

Heh... Thanks guys. I'm about to head to a st Patrick's day shindig. When I get back I'll try the process again with your advice. Thanks again...

some people leave the handle coating on, esp under the scales. the knife was giving you a hint :)

Sandpaper...started with 120, went up to 300 something...scored around the scales with razor blade, actually used a razor blade to scrape off the finish in some places, if I did it just right, and was holding my tongue just so, it didn't really scratch at all. Hot vinegar to get a little patina going. Along spine is hard to make look decent. I like the idea of having some rust prevention underneath the scales. To summarize, I sanded bk2 and he gave up his coating readily, happily.

Start by going over the blade with some sandpaper to break up the coating (doesent have to be hard or actually take off any coating), spray/apply stripper...done.

I used some good old sand paper to get a pretty nice shine on it. I started with 80 to get the coating off then 100, 150, 220, 600, 800 then some steel wool and a scotch brite pad.
