Stripping BK7

So I'm completely new to the knife game...Read up and watched a bunch of YouTube videos and decided I liked the BK7. I removed the black coating this afternoon, using some off brand paint stripping gel. It was relatively easy to get off, but now I'm left with yellow streaks all down the blade. Is this normal? Or will I be able to sand it out? I'm hoping its not rust, though I'm not sure that would even be possible...

You might post a picture. I've not sure of the yellow you speak of. But you started out with one of my favorite Beckers. Great blade.

Is it because I just registered I'm not allowed to post attachments?

You can post pics - but not as attachments. Need to have a Flickr/Photobucket/google photos/dropbox/Imgur acct. Copy, paste url - there's a tutorial somewhere here..."How to post pics at any membership level" or some such. Not too hard once you get the hang of it.

As for your 7, I don't know what kind of stripper you used, but it can't hurt to take a scotch-brite to the blade with a little baking soda and water. Then dry thoroughly and give it a coat of mineral oil, Howard's or some other non-toxic, food safe protectant. Search around the forum for "stripping", "mods", etc...you will find a wealth of info. Good luck! Looking forward to the pics when you get it figured out.

OK, here are two links to a couple photos. After I removed the epoxy I washed with a little soap, dried, and then put a light coating of ballistol on it (I believe that is non-toxic). I'm just concerned about the pitting and what seem to me to be yellow streaks running down the blade. Is it usual for it to look this rough after removing the powder coat?

I wouldn't be too concerned. I just saw some yellow specs. The grind marks from the manufacturing process are normal. Many people sand them smooth or even to a mirror polish. Just takes time and some sandpaper. You have an older stamped BK7, very nice.

When I stripped the blade of my BK16 and BK11, there was some rust-like yellow/orange discoloration, presumably from chemical interaction between the paint stripper and the 1095 blade. I hit everything with a wire wheel on a dremel and some #0000 steel wool, and it came right off.
