Stripping coating, how?

Guys, I want to strip one of my ASH's and was wondering where to start?
I have searched but not much luck with a 'direct' how to, that I could find anyway.

Some Questions;
1. Can I leave the slabs on and will the chemical affect them and/or the tubes?
2. From photos I have seen, the logo etch appears to stay intact. Is it readable?
3. What sort of blade finish is under the coating on the ASH? I remember I recieved a pre stripped SHSH2 years ago and it had a dimpled finish, is the ASH the same?

Muchly appreciated hogs. :D:thumbup:

I have not had a commercial stripper (ie. Jasco) do any damage to slabs or tubes.
The logo usually stays quite legible, unless polishing blade after stripping.
From what I've seen, the ASH1 has the same finish as my full flat SFNO. It is very much like Double-Cut, but darker.

1. i have never removed the slabs, and have stripped a few blades.

2. the logo is laser etched, and should still be easily visible. though this may vary slightly from knife to knife.

3. so far, all the stripped ash's have had what looks like a bead blast finish underneath. no more dimples.

Good info!

What stripper did you use.....for....the....you know....ASH...

So you can put this stuff on the slabs (ie, spine and belly) and they will be okay?

Scary stuff...

1) I've found even the cheapest Ace Hardware stripper works in a matter of minutes

2) You can put stripper on micarta slabs no problem, BUT it totally discolors G-10.

3) The ASH's have no dimples under the coating, so the polishing is a breeze.

i use a spray on stripper i got from the hardware store. nothing special.

only takes a few minutes for the coating to bubble up, then a plastic scraper to take it completely off.

If you haven't done it yet -- go for it. I just did my FBM today and it was a piece of cake. Will post photos soon. I used Jasco paint and epoxy remover. Just make sure you wear gloves etc. I thought i was being careful and still managed to get it on my hands.

Micarta was unscathed and I think Infi performs even better when its allowed to breathe :D
