Well guys I decided to strip my 14. The main reason is when I was making another set of handle scales i got a little too close with the belt sander and took some of the black paint off  so.......Good time to strip her right. This might take a while. Oh well I'm hanging out in buffalo at the girlfriends for a few days so I have a little down time.

What kind of patina do you guys think I should eventually do? I like dark so I'm thinking maybe mango?

I did my 11 and 7 with sand paper. Just be careful, I cut myself twice!

I hear grapefruit leaves a pretty mean patina. I like what I've seen with mustard too. Of course, time is a factor on how light/dark your patina turns out.

Have fun with that, man. Sandpaper's great but it takes long... Easy to do with the tv going, though. Good space-out activity. Interested in seeing how that turns out.

Brass wire wheel on a hand drill will whip that stuff right off. Leave the coating on in the grip area to prevent rusting under the grips\slabs\handles.....expialadocious.

Grapefruit leaves a cool pattern and colors. Looks like marble. I also like the vinegar paper towel look on panzers bk12. Vinegar will make what ever patina you choose darker

You should talk to Flexxx about his "special" patina. Not the most food-safe, but it adds some unique colors to the steel. And smells...

Flexxxs special patina, now that sounds like I need to make sure I'm current on all of my immunizations and booster shots before I find out any more ;) The main reason I'm using sand paper is because I'm hanging out at the girlfriends apt for a few days and don't have access to my workbench so I cant really use any power tools or chemicals to strip her (The knife not the girlfriend :D )

Perhaps I'll try some mango and some vinegar, I would like a dark grey patina.......we will see. For now I gotta get sanding!

This is my progress so far. I still have to strip some of the paint off of the bottom of the handle and smooth is all out more. Maybe polish it up a little more but I am happy with it so far.
