So....I took my Kabar Kukri Machete and stripped with Jasco...or at least I think I did.

I took all the black off....but is there a second hazy looking coating UNDER that?

After chopping some boxes...it appears there is a second coating coming off as well.

Any ideas?

Yeah, there is a primer undercoating. Mine was kind of a "goldish" color, hard to explain.

I had to sand it off. Took some 60gt sandpaper, hit it a few times on either side, then worked through to get to some 400gt wet dry sand paper.

Now, she's getting a patina, and loving life.

Hmmmm, so start off with 60? Then straight to 400?

Or anything in between? Go any higher than 400?

Pretty much, yeah. Knocked the coating off, then just polished out some of the heavy sanding marks.

No higher than 400, as, IMO, I planned on whipping my Cutlass Machete like an IRS auditor, so, no need to really make it shiny.
