Hi. Just wondering if anybody has tried stripping paint from black Benchmade screws to yield stainless steel colored screws. I assume I could polish the paint off the outside of the head of the screw but it seems like I would need some sort of stripper to get inside the head of the screw.

depending what kind of screws they are you might be able to just scratch it out If you have a wire brush on a dremel, that would probably take care of it to.

Ive stripped the black off many screws from Benchmade, i just use a buffing wheel on a grinder or a moto tool. it comes off pretty easy that way, but theres no way to get it out of the inside of the torx head, which i find doesnt matter as long as the rest is stripped. Only thing though its going to come out shiny, like chrome. not sure what stripper you can use if you want it satin looking.

Thanks so much for the replies and the pics. I had considered contacting Benchmade for a set of stainless screws but these are for custom scales and I'm not sure they will be the correct length for the scales. Based on the pictures, the scales come with stainless screws but I'm not sure they come with all the screws which means I could end up with some stainless and some black. Unfortunately, this is a scenario my OCD could never tolerate. Lol. However, goldie, those screws look fantastic. Actually, I really like the look of the polished outside with the dark inside. I'll will likely take this route. I'll post some picks once all is said and done. Thanks again.

If they’re really painted (like the early black coating they used), acetone will wash it right off. Make note of that before you try to remove tape residue....
