I've come over from the dark side

Actually, I have a pretty good Becker collection and love them as much as my other knives ( sometimes more
)
I want to strip my BK7 which has micarta handles on it and my BK11. I understand from what I've read to clean the blade thouroughly( alcohol , scotch-brite, steel wool) before applying a patina. I want to use vinegar or maybe lemon juice. Should I leave the black paint under the handle or strip/patina that as well? I'm thinking it may look more consistent if I do the whole thing one shot.The BK11 I will do all of it , but not so sure about the 7 if to leave the handle as is or what. Any thoughts/pics guys or what you may have done?

Thanks
