When you guys strip your coated blades do you remove the scales? If so how do you remove and set them back on? Any special equipment?

Some do, some don't. I never have.

1/4" drill bit will remove the flared rivet from one side, allowing the slabs to be removed.

The klean strip most use doesn't seem to harm the micarta in any way. I just lay my blades on some newspaper/cardboard and use the spray can stripper and coat the knife scales and all. About 1 cup of coffee later it's all done :)

Haven't done many I used "DAD's" paint stripper and it lifted coating with in 15 mins , doesn't hurt slabs in anyway . Thats the easy part .

What do you use to remove the stripper and the stripped material?

I have an ST Ripper and a ASH-1 Variant that are gonna get it soon...

I think one thing is to not leave the stripper on to long.

I have heard it can take away some of the coating just under the slabs and make it look like a thin line where handle doesn't touch blade.

At least I've been told this by a few.

a plastic scraper/wire brush, more than half of the coating just sorta falls off when you pick the knife up. After that I wash it up with some soapy water to remove any stripper residue and then put a nice coat of wd-40 on it to get rid of the water.
