I was wondering if anyone here has tried stripping the black coating off an Aqua Salt. I'm wanting to purchase an Aqua Salt to carry as one of my fishing knives and I have no use for a black blade. I guess if I can't strip the blade then I will spray paint the handle which I really don't want to do so if I drop it I can find it. Thank you.

The TiCN coating has an HRC (hardness Rockwell C scale) in the upper 80's. You can use the sides of the blade as a finishing steel to sharpen your other knives. It's like having a very fine ceramic hone in your pocket.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pass on the enuff and the jumpmaster as I don't care for the blade design of either one. If the rock salt was fully serrated I would probably buy it. I guess I will end up sticking with my pacific salt with the yellow handles as it does the job just fine. I just wanted to add the aqua salt to my fishing knives as I prefer a fixed blade.

I think this is what you want.

I will second the new Jumpmaster. I guarantee you that is going to be an amazing knife. I own the original jumpmaster and love the handle and it is an awesome cutter. The new design with the leaf shaped blade should be even more useful. Kind of like a serrated H1 Temperance 2.
