Strobe light?

Can anybody recommend a really good strobe light for a life jacket, as when you go overboard at night and you want to signal your location? (Not that I plan on doing that, but just in case :D)

I bought a cheap one marketed by Fox last year and it worked great in testing...last year. I checked it out today and nothing will make it work right (I think it's the lousy slide switch) tried about half-a-dozen fresh D batteries, nada, no joy.

Thanks, Don

Edit: Maybe they were cheap bulbs and have gone bad. Of course the thing must be waterproof.

I've been using a Princeton Tec Aqua Strobe for a few years now. Very reliable, uses a single AA. Gets wet all the time strapped to my PFD while kayaking. Overall, not a bad strobe compared to the other junk I have used before I found this one.
Check it out here

Thank you, I think I will try that...based on your positive experience  The others I've seen are made by Firefly but are about twice the price. I don't mind the price, too much, just want to buy something that I know will work.

Cheers, Don

The Guardian works pretty well

If the purpose of the strobe is for MOB (man overboard) you are most certainly better off with a clear strobe rather than a colored strobe. IMHO

That's exactly what it's for. Besides the recommendations here, I Googled around and found the ACR Firefly as the best recommended. And those little suckers are expensive ($77 average). I went to our favorite auction site and found a military production of the Firefly, with better specs, at half the price. Waterproof to 30 feet below, so they say, although I don't plan on going there :D

Thanks to all of you for your input and recommendations
