What would you recommend?

This would be for heavy outdoor use when a fixed blade can't be carried.

Thanks for any input!

Combo edge Delica or Endure depending on the size your looking for. Get the one with the ATS55 blade.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Spyderco Wegner. A great knife.

Ditto the Wegner!

I'd go for the Spyderco Military. That's an amazingly strong folding knife.

Outdoor Edge Magna or CRKT M16 series seem to be very strong although I havn't abused them yet. Any one else beat them up?

I also whole heartedlyendorse the Benchmade 720. Very tough, great lock, good size, and can't be beat for the money.

Spyderco Wegner or Military.
BM 800 AFCK or 720/710.

These I've used in the woods before but there are many other large durable quality folders out there.
Just thought of this:
I've never seen one but Bob Dozier is making folders so I can't imagine a more sturdy, heavy duty folder based on my experiences with his fixed blades.

BM Axis lock series the 710 being my favorite. The lock strength is a big plus in a real heavy use folder. The price is right and the knife is also pretty nice lookin

Thanks,RS

I'd have to agree wholeheartedly on the Sebenza.

I think the REKAT Pioneer series would be a good fit here as well.

(Axis, AFCK and Military would be a tier below because they are not quite as robust imho. I own all of the above, so I am judging from my own impressions. )

For a custom knife, a Kit Carson Model 4 in your choice of flavors.

Get a Buck Model 112FG. Who do you need to impress with a fancy blade. It's an outdoor knife, right? Buck is great in the customer service area. Break off the blade...who cares. They'll replace it. Kinda classic looking too. Hell, they've been making them since 1963.
