Stronger liner lock?

I got to wondering whether having the tang vertical is the best setup, as there is a tendency for the lock to be forced upwards. I wonder whether setting the tang angle "tangential" to the pivot pin, thru the strongest point of contact between the tang and the lock, might not be stronger...

Better look at the Schrade one that Ron Lake and Michael Walker did. has that type lock and is patented, I think.

I made several linerlocks that way (didnt know it was patented) but it seemed that it gave the blade more leverage to spring the leaf so I stick with about 90 deg..

Thanks guys, you've both saved me a ton o' grief...if it is patented the I'd be in hot water and if it don't work you've saved me the trouble of finding out the hard way! :)
