The Sebenza is in this class. Dressy but very strong.

Do you now other folders that are very strong yet dressy? Preferably with wooden scales and preferably cheaper than the Sebbie :D

you could put wood scales on a buck strider mini folder. And maybe give the blade a satin finish. That would not be hard to do yourself, and cheap!

Benchmade 690, w/carbon fiber bolsters and stabilized wood scales.

As of just recently no longer in production, but should still be available.

Buck/Mayo TNT. Small, lightweight, you can't tell it from a Mayo when laid side by side with one. Well except for the blade markings and the damn thing is sharp as all get out. Rock solid lock up too. You can find them used for around 100 bucks here on the forums if your lucky. keepem sharp

Not sure but a newly released Spyderco Mini Persian 75mm C105BMP might fit the bill.

at the moment as I post, they are available from homedepot.com of all places for $138.75

I just snagged one...can't pass such a quality knife up at this price

I was thinking of the mini Persian, too, although it might be a tad heavy for dress wear. One of the higher end axis lock Benchmades might be your best bet.

A knife that is much less expensive than those mentioned but is very nice is the new Ken Steigerwalt designed lockback that BM is producing for its NRA Outdoors line. These are very light lockbacks that have no backspring but work through a catch on the liners. My description is off, you have to see it! These knives are USA made with super thin high hollow grinds (they look flat ground to me, bu Mike Peyton who owns Grand Prairie Knives says it s a high hollow groound and I defer to an expert). These knives have really nice gray rag micarta handles without bolsters. They come in two sizes: 2.5" blade & 3.25" blade. The blade steel is 440C and they are running $44 and $50. I think both sizes make really nice gents users that fit well in slacks.

WOW! That Ken Steigerwalt blade has my vote. That's got a really awesome blade style- it just needs an opening hole

If you want wood handles stick with CRK.Get a small wood Sebenza or a Mnandi.I'm also going to 2nd what Anthony Cheeseboro & NeedleRemorse said ,the BM Steigerwalt "lockback"is awesome for the money.I ca'nt explain how the lock works too good but its solid. There is no backspring, you push down the lockback just like the Buck 110 but the pressure is controlled by the vertical metal liners. You can see a slight vertical movement by the liners. The blade is as sharp as I've seen out of the box.The only thing I do'nt like is the thumbstud. Its kind of square shaped and not comfortable to use.

While the Sebenza is an outstanding knife I would hardly consider it's flat gray handles and utilitarian look "dressy". Just my humble opinion, of course.

As suggested by an earlier poster if you're looking for something dressy with wood handles I would look at a Benchmade 690 with it's stabilized rosewood scales and carbon fiber bolsters. (then I would take some #4000 - #12000 grit micromesh sandpaper to it and take the polish of the wood to another level)
