What is the strongest steel for a fixed blade out on the market. I heard Busse's INFI steel is extremely tough but I know of others. What do yall think

After the length thread on toughness, I just got to ask: Which one are you after: yield strength, tensile strength, resiliance, toughness or impact toughness? :D

My favs 5160, L6, 52100, O1 diff. heat treat, can`t break em . Depends also on the thickness of the knife. I got a kuk 5160, 3/8 thick, cut thru 6" PVC pipe, nothing happened to it, got a custom 1/4" thick bowie diff. temper out of O1, twisted it 30 degrees, came right back, just some of the things...

I don't have a Busse, can't afford it, but I can tell you its reputation is there for a reason. It has better corrosion resistance than carbon steel and most tool steel because of a little nitrogen in the mix, while maintaining carbon steel toughness.

My vote is for infi - this has been proved by Busse and a number of members on this forum.

the stongest steels are high speed powdersteels some of them have an ultimate tensile strenght of 5500Mpa

Busse, Hankins and Cold steel have all done some pretty extreme stuff with their blades.
Fallkniven had a professional torture test done and published it on their site.
All of the Mastersmiths knives go through extreme testing so it's not only the steel itself but overall design and heat treat is very critical ,and variable, depending on the knives final purpose.

A German Messer (knife)magazine did a torture test on a Trident Knives model TCFM 02 and it took 2,800 lbs. to break the blade. I don't know how they put that much pressure on the blade but that's a lot of force! I now have a TCFM 02 on order and already have the Oberlan 01.

Great, strong, tough knives and the handles will fit just about anyone.

Strongest?
Strength is subjective but properly heat treated, differentially tempered 1095 is very tough, strong steel. We're kinda' splittin' hairs here but speaking of splitting hairs,1095 can be sharpened VERY sharp.

Doug:)

I have had a Cold Steel Trail Master bowie for at least 10 years. That is without a doubt the strongest knife I have ever seen.

I have TRIED to break the blade. I have hammered it into a tree, and snapped the blade out sideways... the wood broke before the blade did.

I even put it in a vice and tried to bend it... but I couldn't. The combination of the Carbon V steel, and the thickness of the blade... makes for one tough knife.
