Strop Maintenance Question: How often do you need to clean your strops?

For those of you who strop regularly to maintain polished bevels, how often do you need to clean your strops before they get contaminated and will haze up a polished bevel? Thanks.

Over the past 30 years, I've cleaned 2-3 strops that had gotten accidentally contaminated with other grit sizes, and ONLY because they were cross-contaminated. I have never cleaned a strop that simply glazed over (which only happens with compound-loaded strops.) I never saw a need to do this. I just rub on a bit more compound. I always finish my stropping on bare horsehide. You can't get a better clear polish than that!!
