strop question

i have been using waterstones to sharpenen my knife i have 1000 grit and 5000 grit so, which strop and compound is good, there is some knifes i need to get razor sharp

You should be able to get your knives shaving sharp off a 5000 grit stone, but I use black, white, and green stropping compounds. Some people make their own strops but I ordered a set of stropman strops and compounds and they are top notch quality. Good luck and let us know what you do.
