Can someone please point me in the direction of a relatively inexpensive strop or stropping kit that can be purchased online? I am currently in grad school, so not much access to an old belt or any of the compounds I read about on here, most of my shopping needs to come on the Internet.

I have a sharpmaker, with ultra fine rods, but I still desire sharper, I think I may just have too much time on my hands but o well. Is there any "how too" for stropping after sharpening? I really want that mirror edge I see a lot of you guys get. I honestly have no idea what I'm reading when you guys talk about compounds and such, I need a tutorial, haha.

Thanks in advance!

Check Blind Horse Knives website. I saw some there I am interested in for my hunting pack.

Thanks everyone. Found an old belt that says genuine leather on it, and as far as I can tell no coating. Now I think im going to practice on this alone, then work on getting some green .5 micron stuff. Would this be sufficient to use after the ultra fine rods on the sharpmaker? Do I have to prep the leather at all or just smear a bit of this on to coat it? THanks in advance!

Edit: For the mirror finish, is compound a must? Or can this be achieved by the leather alone after the ultrafine rods? SO much to learn... so little time! haha

You will need the compound for the mirror finish- If you want to be a real cheapskate :p- use autopolish, like mothers mag polish, works fine and is at about 0.25 give or take
