there's a thread in this section titled something like "I'm a sharpening ninja" or something like that. read it from start to finish if you can find it.

edit: maybe it's "sharpening kung fu master"

Y'all must be way too young to remember your barber stropping his razor before shaving your neck. :D

so i learned a bit on stropping a blade but do you alternate sides between passes or do lie k70 one side and 70 another side?

I don't do nearly as many strokes. I usually will do 3-6 per side, switching as needed. My goal is to ensure that the edge is as straight as possible.

Try it along with different ways. Figure out what you prefer. Just make sure the edge is straight.

Also remember that, unless the blade is sharp to begin with, you'll get little accomplished...

I agree. It can be a little rough, but it takes a long time to strop it out. My leatherman has 154cm and I have never done anything but strop it. The factory grind is allllllmost gone but it's probably seen 2000 strokes.

edit: I do 70 per side in a row. For me it works better, I get kind of a locked wrist and elbow and go with it. If I switch up, I lose my stroke.
