so what do u guys think?

For me leather works better. Try and find an old leather belt. If you don't have one try a Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift store. Any leather belt will do, even a kids belt.

Master Shiva Ki here, a leather belt contact cemented to a straight, flat board. About a foot long. Rub white polish compound into the leather.
Forget the movies, Never flip it over and the end of each stroke.
six strokes one way, all the way off the end. Six strokes the other way. Is held with thumb on side of handle, other hand laying on the blade for light preassure. Get an angle you like and stick with it, rather than fret over
the perfect angle. A well stropped blade will cut the same at various angles.
Relax, it`s all simple.

Hi, I know from your other posts that you are a big proponent of stropping. I'm not super knowledgable on the subject - but I assume that you are moving the blade away from the edge (opposite of honing) and that what you are doing is getting rid of the false edge and polishing the remaining real edge?

Yeah, it's the opposite motion from honing. You are misusing the term false edge... a false edge is a sharpened swedge. Stropping, depending on how it is done, will touch up the edge, polish it, and make the etreeme edge slightly convex.

Whoops! you're right, I guess I meant wire edge. Thanks for the info.

That is affirmitive, stropping is just a tiny bit of an art; Same lift from the strops
spine, in both directions, [angle]. Be consistant, adjust preassure as is necessary.
Refining preassure as the process proceeds, light preassure at the end. Don`t be affraid to be firm/aggresive in the beginning, stroke softly to finish.
