Hey All!!! I just got off work and I am putting to rest an old pint of Woodford Reserve. I remembering seeing an artical the other night about (stroping) a Busse to sharpen it. I can't seem to find the thread again and was wondering if any of you folks could A: Explain this method to me. B: Tell me what kind of Strop to use, I seem to remeber reading Air Bleeder something. C: Tell me what the advantages of Stroping are over a Stone or Steel. I have all types of Benchstones/Wetstones/and several styles of steels. I have an old Razor Strop of my dads that needs a bit of stroping compound/soap. Might that work? Thanks in advance and I appologize for not paying more attention when I saw the thread. As a matter of fact, I believe Mr.Busse was the poster. ~baba~

I'll see what I can dig up.

Your awsome! May I ask what you searched under? I put stroping but only found a couple that did not apply... Thanks again! ~baba~

Okay, I won't scold you with a "Use the search" since you did try already ;) :D I used Bleeder as the keyword and only that. Air is too common is in "I already cut air with my knife" and strop, just probably would've bogged down the search. I get bored and used to post to every thread posted here, so I got good at searching. :D

My pleasure on the help.

4th one down is the most useful from what I glanced over, which is surprising as Skunk posted it

Oh yeah... My thoughts are that the strop is a nice way of realigning the edge where as a stone is going to remove steel. :)

You are a wonderful HumanBeing! That made my night... I twas looking pretty crappy too. Thanks for saving it for me.

Wonderful? Nah, I just have no life and live on this forum. Most the time, I'm a blessing, other times guys want to string me up. Either way, I have a couch with my name on it in the corner :D

The Air Bleeder Strops are sold out right now and they went for $69. If you would like further discussion on this, please email me *wink wink* at KnifeAddictAK at gmail.com

That is a good idea too Aaron. If you decide to build a strop yourself, you can try to copy the set up Jerry uses as it will accommodate convex edges too.:)

Well I just found my Dads old Barber strop downstairs. It has many memories including blistering my behind the first time I got caught cutting my initails in Pop's Olive tree out back as a youth with a Barlow Folder. I have had TOO Much Woodford to play with sharp things tonight. But I will give it good going over in the morning. I will get in contact with you (KnifeAddictAK) regarding the "Air Bleeder". Again, Thanks all of you! This is why I drop in everynight!!!
