I have a question on leather stroping, currently using an edgePro Apex I have been able to get my knife edges close to where I want them. However, when I strop my blades using either a leather belt or a large rectanglar piece of leather glued to a piece of wood they seem not as sharp as when I got done with the blade after a ceramic rod. I confirmed this by how easy the blade shaves hair on my arm after a couple of light passes on the ceramic rod but will not shave after stroping. My edge angle is 15deg. and I have tried stroping from 15 to 0 and all seems to hurt rather then help the edge. My leather is not charged with any rouge at present.

If you use too much downward pressure while stropping you can round off your edge.
If you're not careful how you lift the knife after each stroke you can round the edge.

When You strop, make sure to make very LIGHT passes. Also, make your angle is a bit more steep. So if you sharpen your knife at 15, try holding it around 10sih when you strop. The key is LIGHT strokes. Does your strop have any polishing compound on it?
