Stropman HD Compact vs Knives Plus Strop

Which would you choose? Right now I'm leaning toward the Stropman but I'm hoping to hear what you guys think who have had both or still have both.
 
A strop is a strop, is a strop. Which Whopper do you want from Burger King? They are both made from the same materials, thin leather glued to a hard handle. Go with your gut instinct, or the cheapest, or make one yourself. Disclaimer: I have one from Stropman, and it works as well as my technique will allow it to. His service is top notch and personal. I have no dealings with knives plus, so I can not comment on their product or their service. I am sure it is probably top notch also. Are you confused yet?:eek:

I have them both, for maintence I go strop man with black compound on one side white on the other, for finishing, I use the knivesplus strop block...BUUUT I also just got the spyderco 302 UF and with that stone I really dont feel the need to strop anymore...

Hmmm, I got a Stropman with Green and white. Also have the 302uf now.
 
If they're both leather strops it probably doesn't matter, as OHallum has already said. Technique is what will matter the most. I have a Knives Plus strop block and I like it. I've cut it down just a bit so it'll fit in a long Otter Box and it's part of my sharpening travel kit along with a Spyderco Doublestuff stone. The strop set up that I actually use the most is a balsa strop with diamond spray from HandAmerica. That one is my favorite for general edge maintenance. I like the fact that it's a touch harder than leather strops so with a heavier touch like mine, the blade is a bit less likely to sink into the strop surface. After that, I finish off with a few strokes on a bare horsehide strop just to smooth and straighten everything.
