Could you guys tell me what the best compound is for stropping cpm s30v, cts204p and cpm cruwear? Next question would be where to buy it online. Thanks!

I use Ken Swartz's cbn emulsion. The cubic boron nitride particles are second in hardness only to diamond and will cut any steel. It seems pricey but one drop on a strop will do 5 knives. Ive had the same bottles for quite awhile and use it alot. Plus you know the exact microm size. Think you can get it on jendeindustries.com I know you can get it on kmesharp.com. Plus Kens a great guy to do business with

I use a strop man strop .
I typically use the black compound followed by the green for great results with super steels like M390 and S110V.
You can get something of his at stropman.com I think and it even comes with your choice of two polish compounds.
Good LUCK

I used the flex cut gold, and it seemed to take away lots of metal for stripping anyway. Is it possible I used to much or made to many passes? I have always used a plain leather strop smooth side down. And I've gotten great results from it. Suggestions?

For high wear resistance steels like those, I think DMT pastes would be worth looking into.

Diamond compound makes a BIG difference on S30V, at the finer grits (below 10µ or so, and especially at 3µ or smaller); CBN should work also. Best when used on a hard strop, such as wood. Other black, white compounds are OK at coarser grits, but won't do much with the vanadium carbides in supersteels, as the carbides themselves are harder than the black, white compounds in SiC or AlOx, or green compound (chromium oxide); they're even less effective, if the strop is somewhat soft or compressible (i.e., leather).
