Stropping/ 1 micron diamond Wicked Edge paste question

I am going on a camping trip and am thinking about bringing a Buck Flipstik diamond hone, a strop, and maybe a Sharpmaker, to try to actually maintain the same knives during actual use. I l plan to bring, just to have options, and some easy to sharpen stuff, a Benchmade 200 Puukko in 3V, a Buck 119, a Cruwear PM2 and a SAK, maybe a Leatherman and a Mora in case someone else needs a knife.

Anyways, I have green compound on the rough side of my strop, would the diamond emulsion be good on the smooth side? I assume 1micron is fine to cut the aforementioned steels?
Thank you.

Yah, that should work fine. But if I were going camping I personally wouldn't worry about a strop at all, just maintaining the edge if needed. Unless you just wanna do it around a campfire or something.

That is how I was thinking of maintaining the edge. Why, you think the stick or the sharpmaker would be a better idea?

A strop with green compound is a refinement that is fun to do at home. Probably fun camping, too. But if you're just looking to maintain an edge for actual use, just about any hone at 400 grit or finer will do the job fine.

If you’re going to shave with any of the knives, you don’t really need a strop. Camping is more primitive and keeping a good working edge is more important than a hair shaving edge. IMO, the sharpmaker will handle your needs. Just make sure the knives you bring are sharp before you pack them up.

Exactly what these guys were saying, I just dont think its necessary for camping to carry the extra strop stuff just to maintain an edge.

there are portable field knife sharpener solutions and they include strops

see Worksharp

personally i am more than fond of my RRS and you guys will never hear me shut up about it haha. ooh btw i never showed the carry kit containing a wood strop for it, very cool. just perfect for traveling and trips. and at home. so convenient. the RRS speed, utility, and 1$ cost makes all others sharpeners look 👧🪦 💅

no offense, ya? to each her own.

Okay guys, I think I'm going to bring my Sharpmaker with rods all in the lil black self-contained case, and the Buck FlipStik.

Man, that is wild... didn't you write a really weird comment the other day like "No, not watching that, bye" or something... then you came and edited your comment to a roughly sane remark? Hey, I ain't mad at it, lol.

I'm still trying to find "my sharpener". I'm just starting out in the world of edges, and making a knife shave hair on the sharpmaker is still something that pumps me up. Heard a lot of vouches for that Worksharp though.
