Do you guys and gals strop big knifes? Edges 20-40cm long, that's like a small sword. I maintain my 22cm leukus edge with steel and bare leather strop and it glides through thin paper but it's tricky to strop such big knife.

Big knives can be stropped too, just like they can be done on sharpening stones. IT's just a matter of perfecting your technique in either casse.

I do all my machetes and hatchets on my Washboard. Not a traditional strop, but it makes short work of refining the edge, and then it makes short work of the work.

Edit to add: That Tramontina has a slight recurve from the grip to just before the belly. After doing a bunch of chopping I wiped it lengthwise across my pantleg and the bit of swell at the sweet spot fileted the denim - got lucky that time and note to self - use more care when wiping off a machete!
