I suggest diamond spray which is harder than the carbides and effectively cuts the steel. Since getting my 1 and 0.5 micron diamond spray I have been able to just strop my knives back to scary sharp when they start to lose their great edge.

This got me wondering about moving away from the bars of black and green paste.

I'm trying to figure out what compound for my 2 new mr2blue strops. Put diamond spray on each strop? 1 and .5 sound right? Or, something different? Also where to to buy diamond spray - online and how heavy to spray whatever is suggested?

This stuff may come with instructions but I'm in uncharted waters with the new setup, Dia-Folds (coarse, fine, x-fine to xx-fine) and two new strops and looking at using diamond spray/paste for the sharpest finish?

Diamond compound is vastly superior to bar compound in every way except price. I would add DMT 3 micron on balsa and put the 1 and .5 on the leather, you will most likely only need the .5 for a select few steels. 0.5 is very fine and when the edge finally gets to the point it can be used you may find it a little excessive. 0.5 will yield a edge sharp enough to shave your face if used properly.

DMT compound can be found on most sites.

Amplex at classicshaving.com good stuff!

HA diamond spray from HA, it is the best.
