I been stropping here lately but I cant really tell if it is helping. I dosent seem to be making it any sharper oe polishing the blade any brighter. Any help will be appreciated. Im using green compound. Is there a better coumpound

I'm fairly new to stropping to, but may I ask what kind of leather you are using. I know that some leather that has been treated doesn't work very well (correct me if I'm wrong). I use plain veg leather. I have never tried the green compound, but I can tell you that the white kind really makes steel shine!

What steel? Some high-wear steels with a lot of vanadium carbides (like S30V, S90V, etc.) won't respond as well to green compound.

Aside from that, if the edge bevels aren't fully apexed or finished to fairly high grit (near-polish), the green compound won't help get it there. It's much too fine, if the edge isn't ready for it.
