stropping sticks

I made a set of stropping stick from an old belt and a yard stick. I put the smooth side up on the belt and siliconed it to a yard stick in 12 in. Pieces. Should they work ok? Any suggestions? Thanks.
My green rouge will not stick very well. How can you tell if a strop is working at all. Thanks for the advice

Is green the best for stropping. Ive found thal applying a little gun oil helpes when applying rouge

Hit the compound with a lighter from about 2-3" away & the leather will suck it in. Then rub on more compound. Repeat about 4 times & your strop will be loaded.
