Hey guys, give me some feedback on a video I made. For most of us on here it is a no brainer you can get a new factory edge better by stropping. But I get a lot of non knife folks asking me all the time about how I get my knives so sharp..

Thanks

I'm no expert for sure but it looks to me that you may be stropping at around 30dps. I wonder if the strop is putting a micro-bevel on the blade?
Anyway, thanks for the video. I can't wait to get me one of those Sharp electronic testers. It's getting closer to the top of my purchase list. Then I can see how the numbers on the tester correspond to the ease of cutting the straps on my homemade knife edge tester. Below is a photo of my tester.
I have a 2 ton ratcheting arbor press, a parrot vise, bore sighter/collimator, and some other stuff on the way home right now. Next on my list is some 50/80 stones, scissor attachment, and chisel attachment for my Wicked Edge 130. Of course, if a nice CPK knife pops up that I want or a preorder pops up that I want, then my list might be set back a bit.

Thanks for the reply. With the magics of of on screen it and that pm2 fancy grind it may look deeper but isn't. With this tester it is amazing what you find out.. For years I have always seen and been told go a few degrees shy or more acute of the bevel you are stropping. But in reality at least by hand after many many knives matching the bevel with the strop has actually been what starts to bring the readings down in the tester.. once that initial burr is knocked down I have found the honing needs or works best matching.. I have come to the conclusion after getting this tester that many folks including myself have been needlessly petting the leather with their knives once the initial burr is gone going too shallow on the strop :) that all being said i am still learning but I know now what has been making the knives sharper. It is fun curling hairs for people on all my knives dependably as a party trick..haha. that was my old tester actually, just seeing how well the blade will cut or pop/ whittle hair. Super fun putting a actual value to it now though..
