Call it a brain fart or a senior moment 4 pastes (3.5/5/10/14 micron)
the grits I am reading in searches make no sense
3.5 -4000
5-8000
10-800
14-1200
Just trying to figure out what order to strop in and these numbers make no sense.

Start with the highest micron number, that is the largest particle. Then go down in micron size until you are at the finest. The grit number is how many particles you could fit into a certain area, so the higher the grit number, the smaller the particles.

Thank you. I will go 14 - 3.5

you would work your way from 14 micron (bigger), down to 3.5 micron (smaller)

what type of abrasives are you using?
what type of steels are you using this on?

as a basic general rule :

14 micron is about 1200 grit
10 micron is about 1800 grit
5 micron is about 4500 grit
3.5 micro is about 7000 grit
