Stropping with 14 micron diamond paste?

I recently have been trying out coarse edges(400 and 600 grit moldmaster) on some of my folders and since I found that my slurry from the stones was not really plentiful, I decided to get some 14 micron diamond paste to use on a leather strop. First of all, I found that the 14u rounds an edge fast(duh!). Then with a little practice, I found that I could get a really aggressive edge from the paste when loaded on a leather strop. Not as aggressive as as the edge coming from the stones but good enough to touch up with. I found that I had a little difficulty getting hair whittling, then I realized that to whittle hairs with this edge, I needed to slice the hair not push cut it.

Just a little experiment on my part and maybe for those who like coarse edges, you might want to give it a try.

I find if I leave just a touch of burr and strop it clean using the larger grit, the results are quite good coming off of a coarse stone. Some of the coarse edges that can be whipped up are downright scary - takes proper finishing but well worth the effort. Longevity is considerable. Anyone that thinks a coarse edge is halfway to dull has never made a thorough study of how to get best results.

Scary is right, just feeling the edge lightly will take of tiny flakes of skin from the pad of the finger.
