I have a KME sharpening system and as of now I have all of the diamond stones, the arkansas translucent, and a kangaroo strop with the 4 micron emulsion. Now the question is where do I go from here? Do I forget the strops and go to the lapping films or should I continue using the strops?

You are using the strop to remove the burr basically. When I used the kme diamond stones I used the lapping films extremely lightly and then used a strop with
.25 to.10 micron compound.

Didn't really try much else with those stones on the kme tbo. I switched to Venev stones on the kme and then stropped and I liked those stones better for my high carbide steel. Didn't feel the need for the films.

Some folks like the films and others don't. It's probably best to try it a few ways and see what you prefer.

NEITHER please.
Might want to add that category.
Finish with a stone or go home.
(that sorta rhymed :))

That's the whole point of the question I don't need a better edge just want a polish.

There's no dif. IMO
For the best polish dump the diamonds and go with water stones. (yes high vanadium needs diamonds). Some high vanadium is notoriously hard to polish due to waves in the surface; kind of orange peal(ish). Other easier to sharpen alloys polish better.
