Hello everyone,

Just joined the site and glad to be here. I have collected knives for a long time, but have recently gotten back into the swing of it all. I just picked up a Benchmade 910SBKD2 Stryker from my dealer. Brand new in the box. I am curious because it has a thumb stud as opposed to the disk. All photos and research I've done in regard to this model all have the disk. Anyone have any info on this? Much appreciated. Thanks!

It looks like the studs replaced the disc version in later Stryker models. Probably a cost savings feature; tapping a simple hole and threading the new studs was much easier, IMO.

I just had a look through some of the catalogs and it looks like they upgraded the steel to D2 on the 910 in 2006 and then it was discontinued the following year. It still said thumb disk and showed a pic of one with a thumb disk in the 2006 catalog. The next generation Nitrous Stryker used thumb studs. It's an assisted opening blade and would be the 912D2 (tanto) or 913D2 (spear). It should have the model number stamped on the blade underneath the butterfly logo.

I have a 2006 catalogue and saw that too. 910 is Etched in the blade below the logo. I was just a bit concerned that it may have had the blade replaced or something like that. But, at the same time, I trust my dealer and he's a Benchmade nut. I guess it must be pretty rare if I can't even find pictures of it...

I remember something about the last few runs went with the studs, and agree the photos of this knife are hard to find. I think you have a prize that's 'hard to picture'! ...esp. NIB.

Now you need to share some pics so the next person researching one can have something to go by. I had never heard about em, but I'm fairly new to knives.

Thanks for the pics. I'm pretty sure I've never seen one like that. Looks good though.

If you have any doubts just call Benchmade. They are always helpful and will probably be able to give you the most accurate information.

jkarp's been around a lot longer than I have and he says he remembers them, so I'd take his word for it. I know a lot about Benchmades in general, but not too much about the 910 specifically. I don't see anything about it that would make me think it's a fake though.
