Wow, things look different around here!

Anyway, haven't bought a new custom in quite some time so this is quite an occasion for me. Went to a custom knife show in my home town for the express purpose of checking out this guy's work and had to take this one home with me... its made by Johannesburg-based Stuart Smith.

Stu forges them the old school way and does some mighty nice work. He specialises in bowies and puukkos. An odd combo but that's what he likes making the most! This dogbone really grabbed my eye mostly because I've been looking for a fast, slim fighter and this really fits the bill!

Blade is 10,5 inches of 5160, differentially tempered. Back edge is sharpened. Guard and lanyard post are bronze. Scales are curly tambotie, with African blackwood liners and thin bronze spacers. Sheath is leather. Stu made everything.

Stuart's going to Blade Show this year so if you wanna check out his knives in person, that's yr best chance.

Love it! Love these sheaths with the stud on them as the method for attatching to the belt.

Thanks for the comments guys. Lapedog that sheath is usually referred to as a 'sash style'. The stud or frog acts as stopper to prevent it from sliding through the belt. So basically its inserted behind the belt, IWB. In the good old bad old days, they just wore the knife openly outside their clothes. The advantage is that it can be moved around and easily adjusted for comfort. The tricky part is getting the tension right. It cant be too tight or else when you draw the knife, the sheath just comes with it.
