Stuart's one of my favorite Bladesmiths and Artisans......his work is extraordinary. I was going to put this in Joe's thread but didn't want it to get 'lost'. ;)

I got this 'shorter' sword from him a number of months ago but just did get the scabbard because he was out of his prime leather. He carved a wooden form, sans the habaki, and did an incredible job considering he made this beauty for a blade he didn't have.

I initially thought I'd try to incise that throat to match the habaki but regained my senses....

The carving of the leather replicates the carving of the handle wonderfully and it makes an exceptional piece, as are all of Stuart's work.

You have good taste my friend. And Stuart has a great style.

Love Stuart's work. This is a beautiful example. Thank you for sharing it Dudley. Mike

That looks absolutely devastating! That one could wield such destruction with so much style, beauty, and grace is downright poetic.

I love Stuart's work. You did very well my friend (again, sheesh!)

Very nice Dudley! Now in reference to Joe's thread... I want to see some cutting videos of you w/this bad@ss blade!! :)

Thank you all for your kind words and checking this awesome piece out...

Stuart contacted me, told me that he intended for me to squeeze the scabbard and gently insert the habaki.....I know, I'm a dumbass. [emoji17]

I'm really fortunate to live so close to Stu, and last time I was there I got a peek at this sheath. I think he's really onto something with his thematic blending of knife and sheath, especially given his well developed skills, creativity and talent.

You're a good man for supporting him, Dudley. He's at least as much an artist as he is a bladesmith.

That looks great.
I bet that blade tip sounds like a whistle when swung, LOL.
There is a nice weight to the tip, I wouldnt want to be on the receiving end.

That is just a phenominal combination. The way all the elements have a beauty all their own, yet complement one another without stepping on each other's toes is so typical of Stuart's insight into design. As always, I'm SO envious of his talent.

Great score, Dudley!!!!
