This latest piece is the Larger Brother of the knife that Lorien acquired a couple of months ago...
Stuart was going to finish the handle with a hemp-cord wrap but I asked for a more traditional wrap with Same and Menuki. Stuart noticed that on a couple of other places I frequent I always use an American Flag. The Menuki are Eagle Feathers that he made in that vein thinking of me and are exceptional. He carried this theme on with his awesome leatherwork with a Totem-style Eagle Head that symbolizes Wisdom and Guidance.
Stuart's picture of Menuki and polished blade....
I don't know if many of you know that not only is Stuart a World Class Bladesmith, he's intimately familiar with the blades he so finely creates, earlier this year at the 25th Anniversary Canadian Iaido Association Iaido Shinsa, he was promoted to Yondan (4th Dan) MJER Iaido. You can call him Sensei now.....
Please excuse my pictures but you'll get the idea...
