Stubborn FrameLock...What can I do

I have a really stubborn framelock and a really stubborn liner lock. I mean that they lock up super tight. I do have quite calloused thumbs and good dexterity, however these just will not budge sometimes, and causes pain when i have to put a very unneccesary amount of force on the lock to disengage it. Is there anything at all I can do?

Thanks Guys

Try the pencil trick and just keep opening and closing them.

If your knife has a sticky lockup, first clean the lock surfaces with a cloth. NEVER use oil or grease on the lock! Then take a normal pencil and mark on the back of the closed blade where the lock bar makes contact just like you were writing on the back of the blade. I don't know who came up with it, but this trick works wonders.

Militec-1 oz. Synthetic Lubricant & Metal Conditioner can be found at Spark's house. onestopknifeshop.com Go there and read the info. I have some and it solved most of my problems.

any one else have any ideas? I found that the pencil is a short term temp fix

How old are the knives? If you've had and used them for a while they might just be getting worn out. I doubt that this is the case, but it is a possibility, especially if you use them a lot.

You might be able to polish up the part of the blade where the liner makes contact and reduce friction that way.

I don't really recommend doing this except as a last resort, but you may be able to take the knife apart and bend the liner very slightly so that it won't jam itsself over quite as far on the locking surface on the blade. Doing this wrong could seriously compromise the strength of the lock and/or allow some blade play though. If you do try it, be careful and really check the lock up before you put the knife back into service again.
