The narrow tip of my leek was just too bothersome. I felt like I was going to break it off. So, I did. I also reshaped the blade and handle in the process, resulting in the Stubby Leek - a wharncliff style AO knife, with a nice small size. It now measures a hair under 3 inches long when closed, and about 5 when opened. The blade is about 1&4/5 inches long. There's just enough handle left for a good 3 finger hold if you've got large hands.

Hehe, yeah. I've actually tried carrying it without the clip, and it's small enough in a pocket that it doesn't really get annoying like a bigger knife would.

That's a pretty cool mod, but I think you just voided your warranty :D

That's what that is! I saw a picture of it in another thread and had no idea what it was. I really like the looks of that.

Does it open faster, since the blade weighs less now? regards Henry

I can't really tell. The tip was so thin, the lack of it doesn't change much.

I'm thinking it would look better done with the plain stainless version. When polished up, the spots I ground down wouldn't even be noticable if the rest of the knife was polished too.

I might end up with something similar . I recently posted a thread asking the best way to fix a bent tip on a leek. I like your solution!

Cool idea, I'm always paranoid about the tip on those leeks.

Any issues without the 'safety' lock though?
