Stuck axis with aftermarket scales

I put new aftermarket scales on my mini griptilian and the axis lock won't move at all unless I back out some of the body screws and the pivot screw. Is this normal? Should I locktite them in the position where the lock is smooth? Or should I maybe sand down the inside of the scales where the spring sits? The lock works smoothly with the stock scales. Thanks for any feedback.

You’ll have to compare the original scales with the new ones to see what the difference is, and make the changes to the new ones.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. If it needs it, would you recommend just sanding the area down with 1000 grit or so?

I was using a small file on my multitool before to get into crevices. Whatever you use, just keep it wet so you don't breathe the dust.

Have you figured out what is exactly wrong?

Sandpaper, files, blades, sharpening stones can be used to remove material, just depends on what needs to be done.
Grit will be determined by how much needs to be removed and how finely finished you want it.
If it's just a tiny bit, 1k will be fine, if it's a lot, a file might be better starting out, then finish with the 1k.

If it's a relief that needs to be enlarged or deepened, sometimes a blade works well for cutting or scraping the material.
A blade can be a knife edge, or the edge of a file.

I like to find a tool that fits the job, sometimes having to make one.
