I'm looking for a new flipper and am stuck between a ZT 801/808, ZT 0095 and leaning heavily towards a Reate Horizon C... limit is 300-350$. I'd like to hear some opinions /feedback of owners of the above mentioned.. thanks all

ZT 0801 since they re discontinued and available at discount prices right now. i have a couple and they flip and cut like a knife should

I am very partial to the 0801. It’s been my EDC for the last few days. The action and ergonomics are superb! It’s my knife of choice when I feel like something heavy and solid.
It’s also a bit cheaper than the horizon, I believe.

Ya the 801 is 2nd behind the horizon c... I've just never been a huge zt fan... but im willing to try their "higher end" models and see if they leave an impression. I'm open to other knives as well <350$ range. Titanium Frame lock flipper and preferably a harpoon/modified sheeps foot blade style

Depends on what you're going to use the knife for...
First you stuck the 0801 and 0808 together - they're incredibly different knives.
I had an 0801BW until a couple days ago - I liked it; but it didn't do anything for me. I carried it maybe a dozen times in the years that I owned it. The 0808 is smaller, more comfortable in hand, and has a much different blade shape.
0095 - slimmer blade than the 0801, about the same comfort wise (for me). I think I prefer the action over that of the 0801. I think, for most purposes, the 0095 is a better choice. (*note - when I refer to the 0801, I mean the original style; not the newer 0801ti - I've got no experience with that)
Reate - I've never owned one, only handled one; so I won't comment.

I've had all three models. My favorite is the ZT 095S90V, and I really wanted to mod that knife, but didn't. Love S90V, but the knife was too long and too heavy, so got rid of it.
Had two in the 0801BRZ which are gorgeous, but too heavy for me.
The ZT 0808 was decent, and smaller/lighter, but the blade design was a tad too different for me.
The ONLY ZT that I've kept, out of perhaps thirty, is the 0770CF in M390. A gorgeous knife all around.

Ya my experience with ZT in the past have been the same. Too much of this or not enough of that but cant quite tell what it is. I think I really want to try the Horizon C because I like the black/bronze and the blade design....orrrrr spring for a Torrents and get the M390 (which I particularly like ) Hard use EDC as I work in a shipyard (Machinist)

I own a 801Ti and a 0095 (And a Reate K2) for hard use I would go 801, it has good ergos and had a useful bladeshape. The 0095 is a bit thin imho for working with gloves and not the most ergonomical grip for bigger hands in particular. As for the Reate its too nice to eff up :D

I'd go for a preowned/lightly used Reate Horizon D. You get a steel upgrade and the CF/Ti version is quite a bit lighter. Even the full Ti version is lighter despite the backspacer because the D is skeletonized while the C is not.

Not knowing what qualities you're looking for, I'll just say that the 0801 and 0095 are two of the very best flippers I've ever owned. For whatever reason (there are lots of elements that have to be just right), these two nail the "flipper" thing.

I have a couple of 0801 since 3 years and they are my benchmarks for flipping actions.
I like their grinds better than the 0562 and IMHO they are better slicers.
I have the ELMAX versions and I am very happy with this steel.
My complain will be with the balance of the knife, in the original veriso nyou have a lot of weight in the handle.
Even with a very good ergonomics this give the feeling ht eknife is heavy... you may like it or not.

I think I really want to try the Horizon C ...

G GiantMouse Sounds like your mind is made up. If something is tugging at you like that, it’s what you should buy. If you’re like most of us, even if you buy something else great you won’t rest until until you’ve got what you’re fixated on. Save yourself some anguish (even if it costs you some cash).

“Just buy the dang knife!”

I have an 801 and a 0095 love em both. I would say everyday use the 801 is hard to beat but for aesthetics i love the 95. Both flip great and i have had 0 issues with them for probably a year of on off edc service. Yesterday I received a reate Hills from bladehq and it’s pretty nice. Fit and finish is top notch and flips pretty good but needs to be broke in a bit as it’s a tad gritty feeling! Only thing I am really disappointed in is the blade is dull. It will not cut a hair on my arm and rips paper. It’s ok I can sharpen it but still for a $200 blade I was disappointed. I also got a real steel megaladon in the same order and that thing is hair popping sharp! It’s in my pocket today if that tells you anything.

Well i went ahead and decided to just pull the trigger on the Horizon C and the 0562CF ( mainly because I love the CPM-20CV) and I have a buddy who just received his 0801ti and is gonna let me carry for a few days to see how I like it before I order which is a rare thing here in VA. Once I receive both knives ill be sure to post pics up and my thoughts on them both!
