Have any of you guys had problems trying to remove the head from the shaft?
I got a Frontier hawk yesterday and after removing the screw the head fits so tight that is really hard to take it out. Any tips?
Thanks + Regards

Hold the bit and poll like handles and bang the end of the haft into a concrete floor until it loosens.

This might indicate a poor head/haft fit, actually, the heads are forced on mechanically and they gouge into the wood and are a pain to remove sometimes.
I had a similar one and it seemed ideal until the wood shrank a bit and it was a terrible fit, a properly shaped haft fitting a cleaned out eye would have just slid up higher and seated tightly as the wood shrank slightly. Also good reason to leave the 3/4 of an inch or so of handle above the eye instead of chopping it off.
The head should be able to slide down fairly readily when force is applied like Fortytwoblades says, perpendicular to regular cutting force, so you can remove it to clean it stuff, and if you are throwing it, handle hits will cause the energy to slide the head off instead of breaking it.
OK done yakking.

Thanks guys,
Have banged it in the floor many times now, but the bottom of the head keeps shaving the shaft so I presume the fit was done when the wood was much dryer. I will just wait a couple of days to see if it loosens.
Best Regards

Try getting a utility blade and cutting that splinters of wood as close as possible so the head can slide over it, you can sand it down later and you will never notice.
When you finally get her off, file those sharp edges off, bottom and top of the eye, and look for any crud inside the eye too. Makes things go a lot smoother later, you will be pulling it off and putting it on a lot when you are fitting it to the haft. Oh, and toss out that set screw, it will just rip up your haft for no good purpose.

Try holding the handle about midway in a horizontal position, then smack the end of the handle with a hammer.
I've removed some pretty stubborn heads this way.
This technique has more than brute force going for it.
