It seems all I've been buying lately is Spyderco and Victorinox.
Besides the Arc-lite, what are some other under $50 blades by other makers that offer a big bang for the buck. Folders or fixed blades, it doesen't matter. Value is the key.

CRKT is exactly what you're looking for. I have 3 CRKT knives, a large Point Guard, small KFF, & M16-03Z and am very happy with all of them.

Buck makes some good knives for under $50 as well.

I think Outdoor Edge does a couple different knives that fit that. Check out the 'Magna' and the 'Impulse'. Sweet blades and quite a bang for the money. Keep your eye on the for Sale/Trade Section under 'Exchange' and you'll find knives in your price range that are of much more retail value as the prices in that forum, if you shop/compare, are REAL hard to beat! Best of luck!

I have a NIB CRKT LUS 02 that I'll sell you for $25 shipped. Nice knife, but it's not my cup of tea

I think you have been getting some excellent advice as to lines to look at. CRKT and Outdoor Edge offer some great inexpensive knives. You might want to take a look at Boker knives as well. They have some very good knives for good prices.

Spydie Native...big bang for buck. On the fixed blade knives, Newt Livesay. His neck knives are great and most are under $50 (with micarta). Some time back he was even offering a cord-wrapped Marshal for something like $65. CRKT is also very popular.

If you are looking for something other than Spyderco be sure and check out Columbia River. They have several models that offer a lot of bang for the buck.

Thanks for all the responses. I have a CRKT Mirage, and that particular model isn't for me. I have been looking at the small KCC and LUS models. They seem to be better designs for an everyday user.

3" Impulse from Outdoor Edge/Edge Tech is my recommendation to fit your specs.

HI Paul, If you go to "Knife Exchange" - "Knives for Sale-Makers", you will see my post entitled "Bison Neck Knives" with photo. Completely hand made and under $50.00 U.S. Thanks, A.N. (Al) Jones

No pun intended but you would be hard pressed to get more bank for the buck than with Buck. Their legandary 110 and 112 folders last for generation and the versatile and attractive lilne of affordable fixed blades serve a wide variety of tasks. Their steel, while certainly not my favorite, is very corrosion resistant, from my experiences. On top of everything else, their customer service is top notch and way more than fair.

How about saving a bit longer and treating yourself to a MT LCC.

It still is a great value for what you get.

Check out Opinel for some really great deals. Kind of makes you wonder what they could build on a $50 budget!

As to some of the knives listed in the posts above, I have had/have some of them. I have a preference for a 3", give or take, blade. The Buck 112 is a great knife, if a little heavy. CRKT shows great value. The LUS shows a lot of promise. The Microtech LCC (drool), very nice. Opinel is probably thebest value out there. I love my #8. Thanks for the responses.

Paul
