As I'm looking around at Emersons I might like to get there are a few that catch my eye.

The 10 looks like a nice all around package, as does the M-Wave. The A100 looks very slick, helped by the fact that I'm a sucker for the custom Vipers.

But, in the end, I always seem to come back to the 13 because of that bowie blade. It gets me every time. So my question to you is this: what are your impressions of using the blade on the 13? Thanks for any info and opinions you may offer.

The 13 is a nice knife, I too am a sucker for bowies :D.

It will do prety much all you ask of it as its a well built full size folder... But the 12 im my oppinion is a better knife. The blade shapes are similar, the 12 has less of a trailing point than the 13 but over all there is not much between them.
The handle ergos. are clearly very different but i actually find the 12 feels better in the hand, I found the 13 handle rubs my hand creating "hot spots" when used for a long time. Iv not had this happen with the 12 and iv actually used it allot more.
The other BIG factor (for me any way) is the lock, if given the choice id take a frame lock over a liner every time.

I sort of think of the 12 and 13 like brothers, one better looking and the other stouter and stonger :)

I get what you're saying on the 12. I had a chance to use a Spyderco Chinook 3 recently and it has a handle style not too different than the 12. I found it very comfortable. The 13 looks like it'll be rock solid in a hammer grip but the 12 may allow for different grips without any hangups. The price on the 12 is a factor though, I often see it at $100 more than the 13. I understand where some of that comes from with the cost of titanium, but it's a sizable jump.

Guess I need to see if I can make a trip to a store with a good Emerson selection and try them in person.

i like my '13 better than my '12 BUT its a specwar custom '13 lol, really a little different than the production '13 (ie thicker handles for one thing), the '12 is my fav production EKI by far & well worth the extra $$ spent.

I bought my dad a 13 and now I want one, it has a nice feel and a sweet blade. I got him the 13 because he really likes that style blade and every other knife I've got him he's broke. He hasent broke the 13 yet and I don't think he will but he sure does know how to dull the hell out of it. It's a great knife and here is a good place to get one http://www.knifesupply.com/eshop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=EK1600
