Stud into a hole

After 37 Spydercos I bought a Large IGWT Sebenza. I know with practice I'll get the hang of the thumb stud. What about a "hole" in place of the stud, with the hole size maximized for the blade stock showing and the profile of the regular Sebenza slabs. It is a knife definetly to be used and maybe modified. Thanks - Chris -Pensacola

I don't think that a hole would be practical on the Sebenza and I would bet the farm that Chris won't do that type of modification. Congrats on your purchase, you'll get used to the thumbstud.

I am sure CR would not do the whole. A post about "Mayo..naising" got me thinking about holes. I have a Mountaineer I coming and trying to settle on a 7-9" outdoors single. A small sebenza would be next. Don't quite know the differences between the small sebenza and an Ufaam. Thanks - Chris

The unfaan is 5 1/2" long the small is 7". The Umfaan does not have a pocket clip.

Thank you for the description on the Ufaan. Also, Tom May replied that it would be extremely difficult to put a hole in blade that has already been hardened. Chris

As much as I know Spyderco has a patent on the hole.

Every other firm which wants to use it has to pay!

regards

What I have contemplated is that someone, talented in such matters, could use a precision wire EDM machine to cut a "notch" where the thumbstud was. Then a separate piece would be constructed hat look like the greek symbol Omega. The dimensions such that this piece could be press fitted into the previously cut notch.
