I just got myself a speed bump and it really is a great knife except for one thing. When it's closed the thumb stud rattles and spins freely in the blade, but its solid when the kinfe is open. It this normal, or did i get a bad one? Also, does anybody how i could fix it myself?

Thanks,
Knucks

No, that's normal. The flats of the thumb-stud engage when locked, the thumb-stud kinda rattles when the blade is closed. Just the nature of the beast, in my experience. Not to worry.

Same here. There's no tension on the spring when in the
closed position, so it can/will rattle a little.
You're good to go.

Yeah, with a Sharpmaker (using the corners), it's not hard. I did go with the optional diamond rods, though...the other rods are just too fine for re-beveling, in my opinion. Start with the diamonds (be VERY gentle), work your way up in grit. My Speed Bump is one of my sharpest knives.

Hey riffraff,
Where did you get your diamond rods? They can be kinda hard to find for a good price. I'm just curious.

Thanks,
Jon

The price on them dropped by almost 50% this last year. Try NGK ( ); search for SC204D.
