For those of you who don't know it, we imported a number of pashmina shawls from Nepal last year. Pashmina is a very fine wool/silk knit fabric that is all the rage in fashion magazines. Prices vary from $69.00 to $300.00 in various stores and catalogs. The reason they vary so much is because of the quality. All Pashmina isn't created equal. Well, Marya selected and brought in what is called 70/30 pashmina (70 percent pashimina wool and 30 percent silk). The cheaper shawls are 50/50, and are "brushed" to make the shawl appear softer.

We had a canceled order for some non-standard colors that we didn't sell to any other vendors, and I wanted to offer them to the forumites for possible gifts to the wife, mother, sister, girlfriend. Marya hand-carried these back from Nepal.

Here are the colors:

If you want one, give me a call at 888-297-8376, ext 101. They're a hundred bucks a pop, and are THE BEST pashimina available (a friend of Lalit took us to a reputable dealer who didn't rip us off with 50/50).

Craig, I can't phone you, cos I'm on the net. Also I'm to dumb to disconnect and call you. But yes, I would love a black one for Anti-khurkuri girl. Usual arrangement? Make a beautiful xmas present, and may win some khurkuri-collecting points!

David: You're quite the rascal. What a plan! Will you let us know how it works out?

Oh Lt Dan, you mock me! Nah, the old lady likes any stuff from the sub-continent, and, to be honest, wasn't really shocked when I used the word 'collection' in a khurkuri context! She thinks it's better than drinking and taking drugs or being a football hooligan, also knows men are all crazy anyway. These pashimina cost really BIG money over here, especially at that kind of quality. Reckon she earned it putting up with me.
She's not a bad ole boot.
David

David: Maybe you're onto something here w/the X-Mas gift. And that brighter color is one of the spouse's favorite. I'll look deeper to be sure the motive is on the up-and-up, since she has such a finely tuned crap detector (and I'm glad of it). Good of you to testify that the price and quality are up to GH standard and it's another Blue Light Special (always!). The hitch is that a cedar chest is a must for wool to survive in this house.

"Mock" you?! What's up w/that? Say it ain't so! Is my sincerity in ?? here? I'm speechless....well, pert near. How can I make this right w/a fellow forumite? I surely meant no disrespect and take full responsibility for my tongue. Please accept my apology. I'll try not to do it again....at least, not any time soon.

I met a fellow from Kent who says that if everything's coming my way I might be in the wrong lane. His name is Arthur Burt, and he doesn't like tea! An amazing and humble man; I hope you meet him someday soon (he's 88).

I've got a notion to buy a really nice khukuri. Good thing the Afghans and horn Cheetlangs are only a week away. Craig will no doubt be up to the task shortly.

Your respectful servant, Lt. Dan

Lt Dan... Sir, no need for an apology! I was trying to get a, er, um... (this is going to sound really ugly) well, a kittenish sort of feel in that post, kind of like Scarlet O'Hara flirting thaang... "La-la Sir! I believe you are making fun of me" (Hides behind fan and makes outrageous eyes).
Trouble is try no to imagine that I'm not a slightly overweight 43 year old man with MPB and English-quality teeth... Nope. Doesn't work for me either... (Rambles on) Anyway, I saw your wise words in that thread on HI. If you aint the sharpest knife in the box, well, you're not far darn short of it!
I thought you were being ironic to be honest, knowing that a guy like me being, or trying to be, manipulative or scheming with my brainy babe was like a snowman in the Sahara... Impossible!

Yours, in khurkuri madness,
David

David:

You'd make a dawg laugh. I'll just assume this thread about fine Nepali clothing has somehow affected you, and I haven't a clue how. There are some things in life I'm better off not knowing!

Just for grins, the best man at my wedding used to say: There are two things a man ought to have in life---a good woman and a good dawg. But some men aren't so lucky. They just have two dawgs.

Craig:

The clothing looks first rate. I never know what GH will come up with next. Say, can you get the cloth issued to the Gurkhas that is worn with the SN1? (I saw the name once in a very old post, but disremembered it.)

Lt Dan, you run rings around me. Yes, it has affected me... I'm so pleased at getting such a cool bargain. It would cost, oooh, maybe £400 to purchase such an item here. Craig's selling it to me for about £80. I'd love to keep this thread going through the night, even if only to remind myself how cool and funny you American people really are, but I've got to sleep somtime (well, now might be a good idea).
Hope to catch you later.
David

David:

Yes indeed, you've done REAL good in the Nepali fashion dep't. I'm trying to come up w/a way to do the same deed here, but I'm afraid the game was up when she saw the thread. Yet something good came of it 'cause she laughed so loud that it was almost unladylike. I kinda hope the word gets out on the goods here, so I won't have to make the decision after all. First the wood Cheetlang and now these togs, you sure know a deal when you see it. I'm not so cosmopolitan...takes two of me to make a wit.

You give me waaay too much credit here. Could it be that there is some kind of internat'l barrier here? I don't even speak English (guess you already figured that out, eh?). You've got the right word on khukuris beating out the riff-raff. Even tho the ball may be similar, western "football" isn't nearly as rough-and-tumble as brit style.

Craig:

Do you know the Gurkha issue clothing of which I speak?

Ooops! Missed your last post...
Yes Craig, no 'problems', arrived ages ago. Absolutely beautiful piece of work. Trouble is Peta opened the parcel, wondering what the hell it was (too light to be a khuk, so now what is that fool up to?).
Bang goes one surprise.
Bloody woman.
I'm sure that must be illegal, but have a lingering regard for her, so am not yet ready to consign her to some stinking labyrinth of a prison, at least while she has a job.
Also the kids like her a bit.
Like the look of the Afghani, by the way. How fast are they going? I want to order one, but I am restraining my khurkuri madness until December.
Dumb ole broke David

Reply to own post? Surely not! What does it matter what the balance on a credit card is? Is the baby Jesus looking? I don't thinks so...

David: The Afghan is currently a "limited edition" run. Since it turned out a little bit different that we'd expected, you might be able to pick one up that's been "passed over" by an original customer. Keep your eyes peeled on the forum - that's where the Afghan action will happen.

Like I say Craig, had a bit of a shock with my bank balance earlier this month, so have to restrain from spending on my khukuri 'needs'! Also I have signed up to loads of overtime, so definetely won't be in any position to spend loads of time in the great outdoors, mucking around with khuk's, so I'll wait... Until I see THE one I can't live without.
Thanks for the info. Horn cheetlang's sound damn good. I wonder if....
