Browsing around looking for my perfect watch and I came across the Stuhrling Originals brand. They seem a little good to be true, supposedly Swiss autos with all stainless construction and decent water resistance for as little as $60. Anyone have any experiences?

I have not heard good things I'm sorry to say.

For a traditional style, inexpensive, mechanical watch, I'd recommend Parnis. They are Chinese (like Stuhrling), but use good movements and decent assembly QC. I did a bunch of research and asked around on the watch forums, and this is what I came up with. They can be had at that price and are of good quality. Mine is a wind-up rather than an auto, and is styled after the WWII Luftwaffe watches. It loses about a minute a week, which is very accurate for a mechanical - particularly an inexpensive one. I have been wearing it daily for about a year with no issues. I highly recommend buying from Manbushijie.

I forgot to mention that Parnis watches are not waterproof. If that is important I'f look at the Seiko 5 series of automatics, like the Seiko 5 Military.

OK, thanks!
My prime consideration right now is a Wenger diver, it'd be really nice to have a Swiss movt., and Wenger is the cheapest brand name that gets good reviews and that I trust. Might go with a Seiko 5 baby monster, too... hmmm
