At a local gunshow here in San Diego...

I didn't know that this knife even existed, but bought it NIB...

White box w/blue lettering & gold 'Spyder', blue foam, registration card, AKTI membership blurb, Spydie catalog, and the knife...drop dead mint, never used/carried/sharpened...

A search here shows that some 1200 were made around 1999, roughly 600 of each in plain or serrated, this being the serrated version. Do any of you Spydie collectors know what is a fair value on this knife, should I decide to sell or trade it away some day?

(For those that don't know the 'R', it's a full sized folder along the lines of the Endura, Skeletonized blade and handle, handle appears to be a black oxide coated aluminum handle...very light for its size.

(Nice job Sal!)

Here's a review I found... http://www.gearoom.com/reviews/accessories/R_knife/specs.html

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Co-incidentally, I've just picked up a new one of these too from Heinnie Haynes in Wales. I believe they still have one or two left.

It's another one of those "why did they discontinue it?" Spydies, hugely under-rated IMHO.
My only niggle was that on the inside of the handles, some of the Almite coating had flashed over around the edges, and there are a few visible tool marks, but as it is assembled with screws I'll be stipping and polishing the innards. It reminds me of one of those engineering cut-out demonstration models, with all the working parts on display, truly unique.
I'd love to see the Spyderhawk with the same skeleton blade and handle design, with perhaps a Ti handle.
