i baught one of these black cobras today, i cant beleve how much fun im having with it. :D

ive done got my best friend (accident i swear :D ), and my cat dosent particually like me now.

my only gripe is the 350k voltes, im not to farmilure with stun guns but looking at those 900k guns makes me wonder. is a 350k stun gun powerfull enough to stop an attacker? any one ever have to use one to stop somebody?

If I'm not mistaken I believe the tasers used by most police departments are in the neighborhood of 50kv, so 350kv should be more than enough. That said a friend of mine recently got a 100kv stun gun, and I've had the pleasure of taking a few jolts from it. I was surprised by how weak it felt, I've had much stronger shocks from car distrubuter caps. Based on my limited personal experience and knowledge of them I would never rely upon one for self defense, but they certainly are neat toys.

I forget how the tasers are different but I promise you...they hit a heck of alot harder than the small handheld jobs like the cobras. I am 6'03" and 235 with an almost freakishly high pain tolorence. I can carry on a normal conversation while being hit with one of the handhelds. The Air Taser flat took me out. No fighting it, no chance to try and fight. Instant shutdown. I didn't black out, but I almost wish I had. Gives new meaning to the term "shake and bake" :D
For what it's worth and your mileage may vary.......

The tasers are a completely different story. The handhelds are crap, 350V or no.

Note that voltage alone means very little; it is the product of voltage and current hat gets (or doesn't get) you. The larger the product, the better the effect. Then there is the capacity (charge) issue - the bigger the capacity the longer the jolt can last, at same power (U * I). That 350 KV figure could mean alot or nothing, depending on other details - it might not even be enough to light a lightbulb.

Tasers not only penetrate the skin, but the voltage is calibrated to be in the specific frequency of nerve impulses. They disrupt the normal transmission of signals to the musculature, resulting (in most cases) in sudden, widespread seizing of the skeletal muscle.
Normally the "subject" assumes a characteristic posture (you'd have to see the films) and falls to the ground.

The typical stun-gun does produce intimidating-looking sparks....

They're just fun little toys for people with nothing better to do. They hurt a little if you're not expecting it and if they get you in right place it'll knock you on your ass. But overall, just a toy.

A guy I know used to zap unsuspecting girls in the ass with one. He got slapped too many times to count, but it didn't stop him. Not until he zapped the wrong girl and she grabbed it out of his hands and threw it on the pavement with enough force to make it unrecognizable as anything other than shards of plastic.

That jerk is lucky she didn't zap him in the nuts a couple of dozen times.
